Neptune NKO™ Krill Oil is made from tiny shrimp-like crustacean (Euphausia superba) harvested from the pristine oceans surrounding Antarctica . Krill are part of the Antarctic food chain. Krill feed on plankton, and large baleen (toothless) whales feed on krill. Along with plankton, krill constitute the largest biomass on earth, making them one of the most easily renewable resources in the animal kingdom.

The anti-oxidant capacity of NKO™ Krill Oil is nothing short of amazing. It is rich in astaxanthin, a natural carotenoid which is more powerful than beta-carotene. Using ORAC testing (Oxygen Radical Absorption Capacity), NKO™ Krill Oil has over 300 times the anti-oxidant power of vitamin C or vitamin E, over 34 times the power of CoQ10, and more than 47 times the power of lutein.1

The omega-3 fatty acids in NKO™ Krill Oil are unique in their profile. NKO™ is made via a patented low temperature extraction process which maintains the integrity of the phospholipids, to which the omega-3’s are bound. Phospholipids are the primary structures of human cell membranes, which, by regulating cellular transport, function as the “gate-keepers” of cells. When omega-3’s are preserved intact in this phospholipid complex, it highly facilitates the absorption of the fatty acids in the intestines.2

The most predominant phospholipid in NKO™ Krill Oil is phosphatidyl-choline, making NKO™ Krill Oil a rich source of choline. Human cells have an absolute need for choline; when deprived of choline, they die. Choline is a precursor for the neurotransmitter acetylcholine, and for trimethylglycine, a methyl donor and known hepato-protectant (liver protector).3

NKO™ Krill Oil is the first nutraceutical known to contain this omega-3 / triglycerides complex. This complex provides important cell membrane building blocks in the ratios used by the body, and may be better utilized than stand-alone omega-3 or phospholipid supplements. The result: healthier cell membranes that function better to maintain human health.*

Standard fish oils lack a phospholipid complex, instead they contain omega-3 fatty acids in the form of free triglycerides. Two studies have shown significantly higher DHA absorption when DHA was bound to triglycerides, like fish oil.4,5 Standard fish oils also do not offer the anti-oxidant activity that NKO™ Krill Oil does. In fact, due to their weak anti-oxidant capacity, omega-3 fish oil supplements must have anti-oxidants added to them to keep them from becoming rancid. Due to its high anti-oxidant power, NKO™ Krill Oil is highly stable, and does not need added protection.

C-reactive protein (CRP) is produced by the liver, and is present in times of inflammatory response.6 CRP is synthesized by hepatocytes in response to IL-1 and IL-6, and can activate the complement pathway and influence phagocytic cell function.7 A count of less than 1 mg per deciliter of CRP is reportedly a healthy level,8 with some institutions considering a count exceeding 1mg9 or 3mg10 CRP per liter to be elevated.

It is well-known that high CRP is an important indicator of risk of coronary heart disease (CHD),11 specifically atherosclerosis, which in turn may give rise to ischemic heart disease (IHD), myocardial infarction (MI) and stroke.12 CRP levels have also been shown to be an independent predictor of survival after ischemic stroke has occurred.13

Significantly, recent research indicates CRP can identify patients with high CHD risk who may not have high LDL cholesterols levels.14 This is of great importance. In 2000, approximately 12 million adults in the US considered normo-lipidemic had high CRP concentrations.15

Recent research has shown that CRP is not simply a marker for inflammation, but has a direct pro-inflammatory effect.16 In addition to coronary heart disease, it may also be elevated in cases of rheumatoid and osteoarthritis, as well as other conditions.

NKO™ Krill Oil has been shown to significantly decrease elevated C-reactive protein levels in a controlled human study. The study involved 90 patients, 45 receiving 300mg NKO™ Krill Oil daily, 45 receiving a placebo. In such cases, pro-inflammatory omega-6 metabolites are high, and anti-inflammatory metabolites are deficient, which can contribute to dominance of pro-inflammatory type 2 prostaglandins.

on Human Use of Silver

Dr. Rustum Roy

April 27 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ - International Health’s Biotech Lab ), a private company announces that a new peer review paper has just been released. Dr. Rustum Roy, one of the most pre-eminent materials scientist in the world, has just co-authored an important paper. "Ultradilute Ag-Aquasols with extraordinary bactericidal properties: role of the system Ag-O-H(2)O" in Materials Research Innovations, vol. 11, no. 1, (2007) pages 3-18. The focus of much of the paper is International Health’s Biotech Lab silver aquasol products. The authors note critical properties of this unique, patented silver aquasol technology.

"We first establish the literature on the use of ultradilute aquasols as extraordinary, powerful, bactericidal inorganic agents equal to most commercial antibiotics. These findings provide the rationale for a major role for inorganic materials scientists to contribute the insights unique to their field for new, safer health vectors."

Pointing to antimicrobial studies performed on International Health’s Biotech Lab products the paper states:

"Table I shows a comparison of the MIC (minimum inhibitory concentration of (tilde)1 at.-ppm silver sol in pure water, with the most prominent antibiotics used world wide, as fully established in both in vitro and in vivo trials.(10) Not only is this radically different antibiotic material more or less equal to the traditional biochemical antibiotics, it has the unique advantage that bacteria do not mutate to destroy its activity. Moreover, when used alongside a traditional antibiotic, as shown in Table 2, the silver aquasol has a synergistic effect, thereby extending the life of the efficacy of several antibiotics tenfold(11)…"

On the safety of eating silver as a metal the paper states:

"A recent paper by Das and Khanna(1) provides the remarkable datum that some 275,000 kg. (605,000 pounds) of edible metallic silver foil are consumed every year (in food) in India. No known adverse health effects have ever been recorded. This epidemiological evidence that silver as a metal is not toxic in any way needs no comment…"

The paper separates International Health’s Biotech Lab products from other silver products by identifying them as silver aquasols stating:

"Our first contribution in this direction is a thorough review and new analysis of the structure of liquid water(6). The study is the key starting point because of the deluge of products loosely lumped under the term ’silver colloids’ now appearing in the U.S.A. supplements market and targeting many of the very same, above-mentioned applications. Many of these products claim to be dispersions of metallic particles in nearly pure water. Some of the metals are linked to proteins and other organic additives… Some contain ‘organic silver’ - presumably metal-organic silver compounds, and some contain ‘ionic’ silver, possibly in true solution… We confine ourselves only to silver aquasols, i.e. suspensions of nominally metallic silver particles in essentially pure water…"

In the Conclusions section of the paper it states: 1. "The very potent biologically active silver aquasols contained, typically, the amounts of silver claimed by the manufacturer, typically from 10-30 ppm by weight of Ag, The silver was very pure as was the water." In other words, the "potent" International Health’s Biotech Lab silver products were very clean, metallic not ionic, and contained the right amounts of silver.

Sufficient body stores of methyl donors are required for the conversion of homocysteine to the amino acid methionine. Elevated homocysteine levels are associated with fat accumulation and damage to various tissue and organ systems. In addition, the methylation factors including folate, vitamin B-12 or betaine are helpful in promoting normal production of neurotransmitters like serotonin, and in the maintenance of the myelin sheath.

Due to the high utilization rate of calcium from FoodState™, lower amounts are recommended and are as efficacious compared to higher amounts of pure, isolated chelated or salt mineral forms.
